The University of Chester’s Student Union held its annual acoustic music event for all students, on Thursday 2nd March 2016, all in the name of the PAPYRUS (prevention of young suicide) charity. Two of the performers, Edward Browne and Alex Field, two third year students, performed ‘She’s Electric’ by Oasis and ‘She Moves in Her Own Way by The Kooks’.
The audience was offered a selection of Indie rock, acoustic music and was introduced to a new band who never performed live at the SU before that very night! The CUPS welcomed the Terry Burgin Blues Band.
Interview with Edward Browne by Charlotte Mauti
How long have you been playing guitar for?
‘Since I was about thirteen’
Do you play any other instruments, if so, which ones?
‘I do, yes. I play base guitar and drums as well.
Is this the first time you performed at the SU?
‘No, I did play last year for the same night.’
Do you create your own songs as a band?
‘The band I am in at the minute, we do cover songs but most of the music we write is our own stuff. I was in a band before Uni as well.’
Do you want to pursue this after you studies?
‘Music, yeah. I don’t think I will go into the industry as a performer but it would be cool to just do it as a hobby and do some live shows.’
How do you think the performance went last night and how did you feel about it ?
‘We performed fine, it’s just it was a shame that the guitar mic wasn’t really working.’
