Cat Radio does 24 hour show for RSPCA

By Andy Hignett

Cat Radio, the inhouse station radio station of the University of Chester’s Warrington campus raised over £300 for the RSPCA with a 24 hour charity show.

The station broadcast continually from 3pm on February 2 to 3pm on March 1 to raise money for the animal charity.

The event was hosted by third year radio student Tommie Watts who managed to stay awake and DJ for the entire 24 hours.

Tommie said: “It was the most challenging yet most exciting experience of my course at University in radio production. I was sustained by all the good wishes and constant feedback from listeners through social media.

“I was supported really well by the University and they feel it has raised the profile for the Cat radio student station. I hope it will inspire other students to be creative with their future broadcasts.”
