The renowned Morrisons tabby cat, Brutus, died with his owners in Saltney on January 16 after suffering from Polycystic Kidney Disease.
His heartbroken owners, Claire and Adam Owens, decided that the eight-year-old cat would be put to sleep after Christmas following a relapse from kidney failure.
Brutus was regularly seen sat by the entrance greeting customers and falling asleep in trolley seats.
Several Chester shoppers have been sending in their farewell wishes to the famous supermarket cat on Twitter.
Linda Hughes (@lindahughesld):“R.i.p Brutus the Morrisons cat, you will always shine bright xxxxx,” Sarah Hodgson (@sarahlhodgson1) said: “So gutted @Brutus_Cat the Saltney @Morrisons cat has died what a character – he’ll be hugely missed”
Chester radio station, Dee 106.3 (@Dee1063), wrote: “Brutus, the cat who used to greet shoppers at Morrisons in Saltney has today passed away. Very sad news”
